Understanding Certificates of Analysis
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a document issued by an independent analytical laboratory confirming the identity and purity of a compound. For research peptides, a COA typically includes HPLC purity data, mass spectrometry identity confirmation, lot number, analysis date, and the issuing laboratory’s name and accreditation.
At Apex Molecular Labs, every COA is issued by ILS Labs, an independent accredited laboratory with no financial relationship to our sourcing partners. We publish COAs unedited — exactly as received from the lab, including the full chromatogram and mass spectrum.
When reviewing a COA, researchers should verify: (1) the purity percentage meets their research requirements, (2) the observed mass matches the calculated mass for the compound, and (3) the issuing laboratory is independently accredited.
