How to Read an HPLC Report
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is the primary analytical method used to assess the purity of research peptides. In a reversed-phase HPLC analysis, the compound is separated from impurities based on hydrophobicity. The resulting chromatogram shows peaks — the main peak represents the target compound, while any additional peaks represent impurities.
Purity is typically reported as the percentage of the main peak area relative to the total peak area. Apex Molecular Labs applies a ≥98% Verified Purity standard by RP-HPLC for compounds in our catalog.
UV detection is typically performed at 214nm (detecting peptide bonds) and/or 254nm (detecting aromatic residues). The detection wavelength used is noted on the COA.
